Tommy Luis Lopez, 81
Tommy Luis Lopez, 8l, of Flagstaff, died Thursday evening peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mercedes "Mozelle"; six children, Martha Cook of Phoenix, Anna Chambers of Arizona City, Dolores Trevino of Grand Junction, Colo., Eddie Lopez of Bryce Canyon, Utah, Fred Lopez of Seligman and Veronica Hecker of Seligman. He is also survived by three sisters, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Tommy was born and raised in Seligman and at the age of 18, joined the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II.
Upon his return from active duty, he married Mercedes Rincon of Seligman and moved to Barstow, Calif., for eight years. In 1954 they moved to Grand Canyon, where he retired from the Fred Harvey Co. in 1989.
Tommy loved the outdoors and enjoyed sharing these experiences with all of his children.
He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, willingness to help anyone in need and his love and devotion to his family.
A memorial service was held yesterday at the St. Frances Catholic Church in Seligman. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were under the direction of Norvel Owens Mortuary.
